NikkieTutorials Just Reviewed Jeffree Star’s New Palette And It’s A BFD

Beauty vlogger Jeffree Star just released his new velvet-adorned Blood Lust eyeshadow palette, featuring 18 royally-named brand new shades. NikkieTutorials (aka Nikkie de Jager) has already posted a glowing review of the palette, which is kind of a big deal.

The Feud

Jeffree and Nikkie, originally longtime friends, have been feuding since 2017. While the origins of their rift are unconfirmed, there are rumors that a “screaming match” on a boat (specifically Benefit Cosmetics’ press trip to Necker Island) kicked things off. Following the trip, the two unfollowed each other on all social media.

2017

In April 2017, Jeffree got into a feud with the creator of Too Faced Cosmetics over their claims that they started the unicorn lipstick trend, and he ended up dragging the details of Nikkie’s “unfair” contract with the beauty brand into it. Independent sources confirmed Nikkie was paid next to nothing in her collaboration with Too Faced.

2018

In January of 2018, Jeffree attacked Nikkie for supporting Tarte Cosmetics’ Shape Tape Foundation. He called out the brand for having next to no diverse shades. Even after Nikkie publicly apologized, Jeffree still wasn’t having it, posting a video criticizing the vlogger for misusing her influence and not calling out Tarte on their non-inclusive BS.

In a “Truth Or Dare Makeup Challenge” video released in August 2018, Nikkie confirmed that she and Jeffree were no longer friends. “I have no bad feelings toward Jeffree,” she told her viewers. “Do we call each other friends? I don’t think so because we haven’t texted in forever and I haven’t spoken to him in forever.”

2019

This past year’s events indicate that the feud may be reaching its end. In early 2019, Jeffree applauded a Grinch-themed holiday tutorial Nikkie posted, calling it “F***ING ICONIC.” Meanwhile, Nikkie’s done six reviews of Jeffree Star Cosmetics products in the past year.

2020

Last month, when Nikkie came out as a transgender woman, Jeffree tweeted in complete support, saying “YOU are such an inspiration and so brave! Love you and I’m so proud to call you a friend.”

Nikkie’s glowing review of Blood Lust is the latest evidence that the pair have finally put their feud behind them. Jeffree reposted Nikkie’s video with some positive words of his own, and all seems right in the beauty blogosphere once again.
